MAGB AGM & Annual Event 2017

The Annual General Meeting of the Maltsters' Association of Great Britain was held on Tuesday 7th November 2017. On conclusion of Maltsters official business members welcomed their guests for coffee before proceedings started with presentations.

The first given by the MAGB Executive Director, Dr Julian South explaining the current work of the malting industry via its Committees and its secretariat over the last year. View here

 

The second was given by Prof. Allan Buckwell, Institute of European Environmental Policy, who spoke very knowledgably about Brexit and potential scenarios that could play out going forward and what they mean for the industry. View here

 

 

There followed a reception where members and their guests enjoyed some fine beers supplied by brewers Marstons, Black Sheep, Hall & Woodhouse, Sharps and Innis & Gunn.

 

 

This year the Annual Luncheon saw 73 members and guests of the malting industry dine in the beautiful historic surroundings of the Armourers’ Hall in London

 

Again, a different beer was served to complement each course of the meal. These provided by Harviestoun, Daleside and Robinsons breweries.  The meal was then rounded off with a range of fine Scotch Whiskies provided by Distiller Maltsters Diageo Scotland Ltd and Highland Distillers Plc

Following conclusion of the meal there were several presentations with the Chairman, Mr Woodley, starting proceedings by introducing Louie Warburton-Lee, Macpherson Trustee, who presented the Quaich to Isla Prentice, Bairds Malt Ltd, for being the highest scoring General Certificate of Malting (GCM) candidate this year.
